Only sand out to the horizon. I search for you, Lord, walking out great distances, but find only desert still. Dust chokes my throat and blinds my eyes. Where are you, Lord? Why is your presence gone from me? I am lost without you. My limbs collapse, my face goes slack. I am exhausted in seeking for you.
But you are my God, and your laws are a joy to me. Though in this desert they press down upon me, I am happy for them as they are of you. For you, I keep them, O Lord. Do not forsake me, but turn your face upon me. I am thin in spirit, Lord. Come and slake my thirst for you. I forget you not, my Lord! Please do not forget me!
Thanks be to God. Thanks be that He is worth so desiring!
